Glenview, IL Air Conditioning Repair & Service
The community of Glenview has more than a century of continuous history, and it’s had its current name since 1895. Some of the area’s first inhabitants were members of a religious society who settled in The Park, which remains one of the village’s neighborhoods today. Over the years, much of Glenview remained farmland, but post-World War Two development gave the area its current suburban environment.
For over 70 years, Naval Air Station Glenview was a fixture in the community. In 1995, the Department of Defense closed the base and deeded the land back to Glenview, which embarked on a major redevelopment project that became known as “The Glen.” Today, the area once occupied by the station includes new homes, offices, schools, recreational facilities and the Glen Town Center.
Glenview is located about 18 miles north of downtown Chicago, right on the shores of Lake Michigan. The village consists of just under 14 square miles, virtually all of which are land.
Kennicott Grove, known locally as The Grove, is a 123-acre prairie that originally belonged to John Kennicott, a local agriculturalist and doctor, and his son Robert, founder of the Chicago Academy of Sciences. Today, the Grove is a National Historic Landmark that includes nature tales and re-developed historic buildings.
Located right in the heart of The Glen, the Glenview Park Center is an expansive, prairie-style multi-purpose community center. Throughout the year, locals can attend a broad range of classes, play sports, host private parties and swim at the award-winning Splash Landings indoor water park.
Most Glenview families are served by Glenview School District 34, which operates eight elementary and middle schools. More than three-quarters of the district’s teachers hold master’s degrees or above, and the district as a whole is highly ranked within the state of Illinois. Four of the district’s schools have earned National Blue Ribbon honors at least once.
As part of its rich and diverse religious tradition, Glenview is home to several religious schools, including Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, Saint Catherine Labouré School and the Glenview New Church Schools. Residents also have access to Glenview Montessori School, an accredited, non-sectarian school that is part of the Deerfield Montessori Schools.
Situated as it is on Lake Michigan, Glenview enjoys a fairly mild climate. Still, it’s not at all unusual for July highs to reach the upper 90s and higher, and January lows may dip into the low single digits and below zero. To stay comfortable no matter how hot or cold the weather gets, Glenview residents depend on great HVAC services.
